Summary of the project

Last year was a very warm summer in Belgium! -We wanted to do some research about this! From the global research we developed a mindmap to have an overview. – Aftwerwards we decided to analyse data from past years to check if it is a problem from now or also from in the past. To do this we received data from the Belgium KMI (meteorogical institute). To make an overview of the data, we created a timeline from 1959 until now! – After this we started a campaign at school with posters. These posters contain small tricks for pupils to handle the climate problem. For example: eat seasonal vegetables, travel in your own country, spare water… We received very positive feedback on this! – We also wanted to share the information we found with the younger kids. Thatā€™s why we created besides the posters a board game for schools with questions about the climate and several tips and tricks that pupils can use to save the climate. The boardgame can be used in primary schools.

Main results

The results are : – beautifull posters to put on walls with tips & tricks how you can handle climate friendly – A nice timeline about the Belgian climate to use in the classroom – The main result is the boardgame that can be used in primary and lower secundary schools to make pupils aware of the climate problem. To learn them tips & tricks to change their behaviour. For the moment a draft version of the board game is made on paper. This is ready, but we wanted to make it in better material to distribute it in the schools, but because of the lockdown in our country we didn’t have time to make this. But for sure we will complete this next school year so it can be used in the primary schools! We had so much fun working on this project, it was very interesting and we learned so much about climate. Also every documentation is now made in Dutch because we didn’t have time to translate this into English.

Actions to help lessen the problem

Use posters with nice images to aware pupils of the climate problem! Play the nice educational boardgame we developed. Learning on a nice gaming way! Pupils don’t know they are learning but afterwards they know a lot about the climate problem and possible solutions.

Projects are created by the teams and they take the full responsibility of the shared data.
