Climate Detectives is an ESA and ESERO school project for students up to 19 years old. Teams of students identify and investigate a real local problem related with environment and climate by using and analysing data from ground measurements and/or data from Earth observation satellites. After drawing conclusion students decide on actions they want to take to ‘make a difference’ and help raise awareness of the problem and help to reduce it. At the end, all participating teams share their research findings on the Climate Detectives platform and one team per country will be selected by their ESERO to take part in the Climate Detectives Summit

Starting in 2023-2024, Climate Detectives has a new category for younger students – Climate Detectives kids. By participating in the non-competitive Climate Detectives kids project, young students (-12 years old) will learn about Earth’s science and environment through selected learning resources and hands-on activities as well as understand the importance of respecting our environment. Teachers can choose up to 2 learning selected learning resources and activities to work on different Earth Science topics or create their own. After finishing an activity,  students will collect evidence of their discoveries and earn badges for each activity and a virtual certificate as a recognition of their detective work to understand and protect our home planet. The evidences collected will be displayed in a virtual gallery.

Podnebni detektivi

Projekt Climate Detectives vključuje tri korake, ki niso več osredotočeni na posebno časovno obdobje.

  • Korak 1- Od 9. septembra dalje določite podnebni problem in predložite načrt preiskave
  • Korak 2- Raziskati podnebni problem
  • Korak 3- Delite rezultate in prispevajte k spremembam, najpozneje do 4. aprila 2025

Teams have up to 8 months to complete their Climate Detectives projects. It opens at the 9 September 2024 and should be completed 4 April 2025 before the Climate Detectives Summit in May 2025. It is recommended to check the national dates of your country.

Podnebni detektivi za otroke

Projekt je odprta od 9. septembra 2024 do 4. aprila 2025. Ekipe lahko predložijo vse dejavnosti naenkrat ali v različnih trenutkih.

Podnebni detektivi 

Če se želite pridružiti napredni kategoriji Podnebnih detektivov, morate biti del ekipe (od dveh učencev do celotnega razreda) in imeti podporo učitelja ali vzgojitelja. Če je v vaši državi nacionalni organizator, se morate na projekt prijaviti prek njega. Preverite, ali v vaši državi poteka projekt tukaj in se pozanimajte, ali morate predložiti načrt preiskav ali pa lahko dobite povratne informacije o njem od nacionalnih strokovnjakov. 

Če nacionalnega organizatorja ni, se morajo ekipe za projekt prijaviti prek urada ESA za izobraževanje. Načrtov preiskav ni treba obvezno predložiti. Ekipe morajo pozorno prebrati merila za upravičenost projekta, preden se mu pridružite.

Podnebni detektivi za otroke 

Če se želite pridružiti otroškemu projektu Climate Detectives, se lahko na projekt prijavite prek urada ESA za izobraževanje. Za pridobitev značke je treba obvezno predložiti dokazilo o vsaj eni opravljeni dejavnosti. Ekipe morajo pozorno prebrati merila za upravičenost projekta, preden se mu pridružite.

Da. V obeh različicah Climate Detectives ali Climate Detectives Kids lahko učitelj prijavi ekipe učencev za različico Climate Detectives in Climate Detectives Kids. 

Podnebni detektivi

Participation is open to teams of school students up to (and including) 19 years old. For Climate Detectives, Students must be from a school located in an ESA Member State, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia. ESA will also accept entries from primary or secondary schools located outside of Europe and Canada if such schools are officially authorised and/or certified by the official Education authorities of an ESA Member State, Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia (for instance, French school outside Europe officially recognised by French Ministry of Education or delegated authority).

Podnebni detektivi za otroke

Če se želite pridružiti otroškemu projektu Podnebni detektivi, naj učenci sodelujejo z vsaj še eno osebo, lahko pa tudi s celotnim razredom. Vsako ekipo mora podpirati vodja ekipe (učitelj, mentor, vzgojitelj ali starš). Družinske ekipe so dobrodošle. Za sodelovanje ni zahtevano najmanjše ali največje število članov ekipe. Vsaj 50% članov ekipe mora imeti državljanstvo Država članica ESA. Further to the 22 Member States, also Canada, Latvia, Lithuania, Slovakia and Slovenia, based on their agreements with ESA, qualify to fully participate in the programmes of the ESA Education Office. 

Podnebni detektivi 

Teams from a country with a National Organisers can submit their investigation plan and final results of the project in their national language. If they have to submit an investigation plan depends on their National Organiser.  If there is no National Organiser, teams have to apply to the project through the ESA Education office. Both, investigation plan and final project results can be submitted in the national language.

Kot dokazilo o vključitvi v projekt Climate Detectives Kids lahko naložite različne vrste dokumentacije, npr. risbe, plakate itd. Zato je izbira jezika prosta. 

Podnebni detektivi

Da. Projekt mora vključevati uporabo podatkov (iz satelitov za opazovanje Zemlje ALI zemeljskih meritev), prispevki pa morajo poudariti povezavo z okoljem ali podnebjem. Za ideje o tem, kako dostopati do satelitskih podatkov, si oglejte tukaj.

Podnebni detektivi 

Da. Vse ekipe, ki bodo svoje končne projekte delile na platformi Climate Detectives, bodo po e-pošti prejele potrdilo o sodelovanju za svoje delo v napredni kategoriji Climate Detectives.  

Podnebni detektivi za otroke

Ekipe Climate Detectives Kids bodo za vsako predloženo dejavnost prejele značko. Po predložitvi dokazil za dve opravljeni dejavnosti bodo ekipe prejele potrdilo. 

Če imate težave ali dodatna vprašanja, se obrnite na izobraževalno ekipo ESA in ji pošljite e-pošto na naslov climate.detectives@esa.int . Ekipe se morajo po potrebi najprej obrniti na svojega nacionalnega organizatorja.
