Project title:

Cloud Academy Detectives: Αποκρυπτογραφώντας τις κοσμικές ακτίνες στη Γη και πέρα από αυτήν.

Research question

Πώς οι κοσμικές ακτίνες επηρεάζουν τον σχηματισμό των νεφών και τις ατμοσφαιρικές διεργασίες στη Γη και σε εξωγήινα περιβάλλοντα;
How cosmic rays affect cloud formation and atmospheric processes on Earth and in extraterrestrial environments?

Identify the local environmental/climate problem you want to investigate

The objective of the research is to investigate how cosmic rays influence atmospheric conditions and cloud formation, as well as to determine the implications of these effects on Earth’s climate and extraterrestrial environments.

Project topic

Climate change

Describe how you plan to investigate the problem identified and which data you plan to analyse.

Through Scattering the cosmic can interact with molecules of the atmosphere of the planets. Throught this interaction the temperature distribution of atmosphere change depending also from the content of it. Result of this interaction is also the clouds formation. To investigate this problem, our plan is to do an analysis based on observational data collected from ground-based and remote-sensing observatories and satellite measurements, such as AERONET and CloudSat, data from meteorological stations and classroom experiments.

Your feedback

Expert feedback Phase 1 - 2023-2024
Is the suggested problem a problem that the students can actually investigate? Is it feasible, realistic? Please explain why or why not. Is the relation with climate/local environment worked out? Where necessary indicate the wider scientific context to which the identified problem belongs.
