Research question

Why is the water cycle changing?

Summary of the project
Dry fields

Drought is prolonged periods of dry weather caused by a lack of rain, which produces a shortage of water.
Meteorological Drought: This drought occurs when there is a continuous shortage of precipitation.
Hydrological drought: it is related to periods of circulating flows through watercourses or dammed volumes below normal.
Agricultural drought: it can be defined as a lack of moisture in the root zone to meet the needs of a crop in a place at a given time, it is not possible to establish valid agricultural drought thresholds even for a geographical area.
Socioeconomic drought: affectation of water scarcity to people and economic activity as a consequence of drought, socioeconomic drought, it is not necessary that there be a restriction of water supply, it is enough that some economic sector is affected by water scarcity .
The constant movement of water is changing faster than previously thought due to global warming, 80% of precipitation and evaporation occurs over the ocean.

Main results and Conclusions
Drought evolution

It is the result of a human activity that generates an effect on the environment that supposes a rupture of the environmental balance. Some of the most frequent environmental impacts are: air pollution, water pollution (seas, rivers, groundwater)

The drought situation has placed the Andalusian countryside in a critical state with a threat of destroying crops and crops in the coming weeks if it does not rain abundantly.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development approved the drought decree in the region given the situation and with the aim of having an agile management mechanism

What’s Next? Actions to make a difference and help lessen the problem
Water availability

We must change the human factors that contribute to drought such as
Overexploitation of agricultural land: management focused on production without assessing wear.
Excessive irrigation: when farmers add more water than they shouldn’t, apart from the fact that the plants wither, they spend more water.
Deforestation: clearing of forests, to make room for something else in its place.
