Is Climate change having an effect on the river Moy
We as a group researched the local problem of flooding in our local area and how climate change is affecting it. We used both primary and secondary data. Our homemade Rain gauge collected water for us to track once a day at 12 o’clock. We also visited the local River gauge that was on our local river and we took note of it also for a month. As our secondary data we used the OPW website that helped us look back as far 30 years ago to compare our results to the results from 30 years ago to see if flooding has been occurring more frequently.
In conclusion we learned a lot, we learned that due to increased rainfall, water levels have risen over the past 30 years. This means we are more at risk of floods than we used to be and we need to be prepared for this.
We need to build flood protection in our local area to prepare for the future. This flood protection may include deepening the river or building flood walls to prevent the river from overflowing.
As a planet we need to stop overheating our planet by using less emissions and fuels which causes the polar caps to start melting and causes the sea levels to rise making low land areas at risk to major flooding.
Projects are created by the teams and they take the full responsibility of the shared data.
