How does Climate change affects the frequency of fire incidents in Southern Peloponnese
The southern part of Peloponnese is experiencing increasing periods of drought especially during the summer season.
On the other hand this region accepts a lot of heat waves coming from the Northern parts of Africa, mixed up with atmospheric barometric systems coming to the area from northern Europe.
This interplay is changing the local microclimate and the profile of fires that are frequently happening in the past.
We would like to investigate systematically the interplay of this factors in view of the global climate change particularly with respect to the fire incidents recorded during the summertime, as well as late spring and early fall.
Wildfires
We would like to use something like data from the sentinel constellation, coupled with recorded incidents from the fire departments n our area.
