Research question
We tried to investigate extreme weather events in our territory, like the supercell in Brescia.
Summary of the project
This graph shows the increase in temperatures due to climate change
We are a group of the second class of the Isaac Newton scientific high school in Brescia.
We participate in the ESERO project, “Climate Detectives”, in which our team has to investigate a local climate problem. Being a school located in the area of Brescia, we have chosen to treat the supercell.
Main results and Conclusions
This graph shows the irregular rains due to climate change
Climate change has led to a rise in temperatures and irregularities in rainfall. What we see in the chart we created via Excel. Climate change is one of the reasons why supercells have appeared in Italy in recent years, a relatively new atmospheric phenomenon for our beautiful country.
What’s Next? Actions to make a difference and help lessen the problem
Supercell in Brescia: 12th August 2019
In order to reduce the negative consequences of this situation, we could all try to do many things in our daily life, starting from the easiest aspects of life, like the waste sorting, a sustainable consumption of electricity, resources, renewable sources of energy, preferring car-sharing or public transports instead of our cars.
