“Poderemos nós melhorar a qualidade do ar em Alverca?” – “Can we improve the air quality in Alverca?”
A qualidade do ar está diretamente relacionada com o trânsito automóvel na cidade. É possivel melhorar a qualidade do ar se mudarmos mentalidades para que as opções de deslocação dentro da cidade sejam outras, por exemplo, usando a bicicleta. Para isso é necessário criar condições para a sua autilização, como parques de bicicleta e ciclovias seguras.
Air quality is directly related to car traffic in the city. It is possible to improve air quality if we change mentalities so that the options for moving within the city are different, for example, using the bicycle. For this, it is necessary to create conditions for their use, such as bicycle parks and safe cycle paths.
Numa primeira fase, registámos as medições da qualidade do ar a partir de uma estação local, situada no jardim da cidade. Julgamos que estas medições estavam a ser afetadas pelo facto da estação estar localizada num jardim. Assim passámos às observações de satélite mas, a cidade de Alverca é um lugar demasiado pequeno para o “Sentinel 5P”. Assim mesmo, pudémos observar algumas variações. Finalmente passámos para o terreno e fotografámos a intensidade do trânsito, em vários locais da cidade e em vários momentos do dia.
First, we recorded air quality measurements from a local station, located in the city garden. We judged that these measurements were being affected by the fact that the station was located in a garden. So we moved on to satellite observations, but the city of Alverca is too small for the observations of the EO Browser “Sentinel 5P”. Even so, we could observe some variations. Finally, we moved to the ground and photographed the intensity of the traffic, in various places in the city and at different times of the day.
A fase seguinte foi estudar locais para implantar parques de bicicletas na cidade que permitissem uma dinâmica de deslocação entre determinados pontos que assninalámos no mapa da cidade. Para este trabalho, vimos um documentário sobre o tema “The world’s cycling city” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tyv1eDFncn8). Posteriormente criámos uma apresentação na aplicação “Genially” que pode ser vista em (https://view.genial.ly/6230c64f4dbd30001491ab79/presentation-detetives-do-clima) e apresentámos o trabalho final à Semhora Diretora do nosso Agrupamento de Escolas que, por sua vez, a fez chegar à Câmara Munici+al de Vila Franca de Xira.
The next phase was to study places to install bicycle parks in the city that would allow a dynamic movement between certain points that we marked on the city map. For this work, we watched a documentary on the theme “The world’s cycling city” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tyv1eDFncn8). Later we created a presentation in the “Genially” application that can be seen at (https://view.genial.ly/6230c64f4dbd30001491ab79/presentation-detetives-do-clima) and presented the final work to the School Principal who, in turn, send it to the Municipality of Vila Franca de Xira.
